There's no escaping the elements at this time of year. Whether you're running to your car or booking it for the subway, the cold and wet are an everyday reality come fall and winter. And that goes double if you want to get outside and go exploring. That's why Converse is introducing the new Mountain Club collection for fall 2018, turning three iconic sneaker silhouettes—the Chuck Taylor All Star, One Star, and Fastbreak—into weather-ready beasts that can take whatever Mother Nature throws at them.
Each shoe features new design elements inspired by the military's Extreme Cold Weather Boot (which Converse once produced), plus DWR coating and Gore-Tex lining to keep your feet dry. Here's an exclusive first look.

It doesn't get much more classic than a Chuck—except, of course, when Converse takes the OG style and puts a whole new spin on it. Printed text takes the place of the old-school All Star badge, the sole is redone in a chunkier silhouette, and a new double-lacing system locks your foot in place. It's the kind of Chuck you can throw on for a rainy-day hike through the wilderness (or just to your local coffee spot).

The Mountain Club version of the One Star takes the design codes established by the flagship Chuck Taylor but feels a little more toned down thanks to the low-top design. It might not be ready for ankle-deep puddles, but the gusseted tongue and water resistance still make for a formidable, commute-proof option.

The Fastbreak gets flipped from an on-court staple to an out-there sneakerboot for the Mountain Club collection. The basketball shoe's contrast collar becomes a functional strap to keep the water and wind out, and the same bulky sole found throughout MC18 makes it feel just that much more substantial. In black, it's a stealthy pick—but there's also an olive green option that really leans into the military vibe of the whole pack.
The Converse Mountain Club 18 pack is priced from $120 to $150 and is available on November 8.
